On the morrow Astagant the good fellgiant called together Ingos the Father of Peoples and Slungandi the Drumster of the Deep, and said:
Throw in thy lot, Silûnakanti,
With this Man Ingos; and, Earthstepper, thou
With this bold Drumster. For both together
You may defeat the false Melyúnas;
But go asunder and he’ll snatch away
What you most treasure: the men and women
That Ingos loves; and the crystal gem
Hid under Hogunoth, but not hid always.
Slungandi was grudging in accepting his counsel. He said:
What plan, Fell-giant, do you put before us
To free Thrâyeldim and throw down that wight?
Astagant replied with an oracle, Hadhwast Astagant:
To throw him down these three combine:
Sporni the shard, Star-crystal child;
The Tribe of Vurwë Yamudúna;
The Moon-beloved, Laukonardi.
The Moon shall send her mighty beams.
And Sporni straight shall despoil Valka.
The Moon’s Beloved the Lost shall bring.
Two tribes shall tear the tyrant’s web.
And Sporni rend the runes of Ombros.
Then he retired into his house and spoke no more with them.
